Our Story

Samtia Farms is a family run cattle operation located in southern Alberta. Lee and Layne Gleim along with their two girls, Sam and Tiana, have been in the cattle business for over 30 years. We were introduced to the breed in 2009 and have been hooked since! We have approx. 100 breeding females with majority of the herd being registered. The commercial females are used for embryos as well as  we raise some commercial cattle for meat. We are proud to eat what we raise and believe that you can taste the difference!

We are cattle producers who believe in proven genetics consisting of fertility and longevity.  We believe that a productive dam has good quality udder with plenty of milk, a sound and smooth structure, along with a quiet disposition. The sires we use are easy fleshing that display muscle and performance, while also delivering eye appeal. A quiet disposition is key as this is a family farm and we want to be safe working with the livestock.

We believe the Speckle Park breed has a lot to offer consumers, despite it being relatively new. The traits that attracted us included the ease of the feed conversion, the structural soundness, the color pattern, and the marbling of the carcass.  We are excited to be a part of the Speckle Park breed and help promote the breed in Canada and around the world.
